About Mac Mannes, Inc
Mac Mannes Inc was founded in the late 1950s. It was founded by John Mannes. During its first few years the company was the custom-imprinted products division of Mac Mannes Gift Store, a prominent gift store in downtown DC. John later moved to Mac Arthur Boulevard where he built Mac Mannes Inc. Specialty Advertising into one of the prominent companies in the area. He worked with many major companies including Capital Airlines (now US Airways), IBM , Sperry (Now Unisys) and Southern Railroad. John was also a pioneer in incentive programs with banks.We were the first to offer fulfillment and warehouse facilities for our clients. The business continued to grow and prosper. Steve Edwards joined John in 1977 and the goal was set in motion to add additional sales people and continue to grow the company on the strong foundation that John had established. Steve became President in 1985. We continued to add sales people and continued working with prominent clients –including USF&G (Now St Paul Insurance), C-Span, National Automobile Dealers Association, the Brazilian Embassy and George Washington University. Steve retried in 2006, handing the reins to Chris Huebner. Chris started as a summer intern in the warehouse in 1985 and joined the sales staff after college in 1989. 2007 marks our 50th anniversary in the promotional products business. We are thrilled with where we have come and look forward to the next fifty years.
We have accumulated a very dedicated staff, people who have been with Mac Mannes for many years: Patty Schlesinger has been here for 26 years, Scott Gibson 22 years. The average years for service of the sales force is 15—and they are still young people.
Mac Mannes continues to stay in the vanguard of the Industry. We are part of The Partnering Group which is made up of 15 Promotional Products distributors from around the country who have formed a union to assist each other maintain and grow their companies and better serve their clients.
